July 4th SVG Artwork for celebrating Independence day

I never used to decorate much for holidays other than Christmas, but now that I can make my own decor, I am all in. This July 4th SVG artwork is bursting with patriotic colors. It has important sayings about the reason for this season, and it was really easy to make.

So many ways to use this patriotic July 4th SVG

This design would work great for sublimation too, with a white blank, of course — try it on a t-shirt, a bag, a dish towel, or even a piece of fabric art to hang on the wall.

I was actually thinking of fabric when I came up with this July 4th design. I love the idea of a patchwork quilt with red, white, and blue, and that was my approach. Different size sections for the various pieces of design make it look just like a homemade quilt would have. Adding the lighter blue, and the tie-dye pattern, lighten it up a little and make the pattern more interesting. You could use whatever colors you like, of course.

No, it’s not actually a complicated design

If you’re newer to crafting and still growing your confidence with making more complicated projects, let me reassure you. You can totally do this. The way this design is done, everything seen in white is actually a knockout in the design. I painted my whole wood sign white and then cut out the pieces on my vinyl cutting machines (I actually used my Silhouette Cameo 3 and my Cricut Joy for this one).  Basically, I try to make my designs simple enough that even I can make it with no problems.

For example, the navy blue with stars — all the stars are cut out, so the white paint shows through and there’s no need to add star cutouts separately. Same for the red stripes — cut out the stripes and place them on the white. The phrases are just words cut out on vinyl and put in place in their sections.

Use up your craft stash with this July 4th SVG

One of the best parts of making this project was that I already had all of the supplies, including the wood board, in my craft room. And of course by using an SVG, that means you can resize it to whatever size project you’re making. All that red vinyl you got for Christmas crafts? It works for summer too!

You’ll find this design from my Harbor 33 Designs Etsy shop here. There are plenty of other summer SVG choices too, like a cool watermelon, lighthouse and vacation destination SVGs to take you to the Outer Banks, Key West, and more. And read more about how the coastal life influences SVG design in this blog.

Use it to make your own sign, or to sublimate on a tablecloth (white, of course), or put it in a tray — I can wait to see all the things you can make with it!
